Answer
Hello, Aphane,

To begin with, the treatment they gave you wouldn't prevent a large number of different types of infection. It won't protect you from a virus or a fungus, for example.

If your boyfriend has slept around, or if you have in the past, you could have an STI. If you had a surgical abortion, you could have gotten an STI because abortionists rarely sterilize their instruments properly, if they sterilize them at all.

If you have been tested for whatever your boyfriend has, and the test was positive, you need treatment. You shouldn't still be sleeping with him anyway, because you are running the risk of having another pregnancy, and you probably will seek another abortion. Abortion is dangerous, and can kill you. It can also kill or seriously harm your future children. You deserve better. You deserve to be free of the fear of pregnancy.

As for whether or not you might be able to conceive, some women never conceive again after an abortion, and it may not have anything to do with getting an STI. In fact, if you had a surgical abortion and there is scar tissue blocking the openings to both your Fallopian tubes, you won't conceive again. If there is a small opening to either, you may have a tubal pregnancy. So if in the future you get pregnant and then have pain in the early, especially on one side, see a doctor immediately. Tubal pregnancy requires immediate surgery to save a woman's life.

If you are concerned about your future fertility, you really need medical care, and you need to follow the doctor's instructions.

Please take care of yourself. Stop taking chances with your life. Please.
