QuestionWhile lying face down, my nose started to plug, eventually I could feel my face swelling to point of itching. It became so uncomfortable that I had to remove my face from the little round it was in/on. It was 60-70 minute acupressure massage. This was yesterday late afternoon, it is now the next day and my face is still swollen, just a little less, but very noticeable. I do not know what to do to ease it, cold hasn't seemed to work. My nose is no longer plugged up also. Is this due to sinus'? It happened slightly my first massage with this individual but I've had several between first time and this time and it hasn't happened since. And it wasn't to this degree! Help!
AnswerHi Jeanine,
That is odd! Not that your nose got stuffy--that's common for most folks.
The strange thing is that your face swelled and is still swollen some. Here are my best long distance guesses:
Something on the face cradle cover (the cover around the hole in the table.) Laundry detergent or fabric softener. Or a new face cradle cover.
Perhaps he or she changed laundry products or perhaps you developed a sensitivity to the products that had been used all along.
The size of the hole in the face cradle. They can be altered.
But I'm thinking the most likely cause could have been a product that was used on the face cover.
The stuffiness is due to sinus activity and the power of gravity. That's a very natural thing to happen.
My other guess is that the swelling wasn't related at all to anything during the massage but may have been a food or other allergy.
Jeanine, those are my best long distance guesses. I hope this helps and I'm sure the swelling will continue to go down.
Warmest,
Kathryn
