Is Nail Polish Hardware Paint? Safety Concerns & Removal Tips

Question
is it possible for a nail polish to contain (hardware)paint? i'm having a hard time removing them with acetone. the gloss melts with the acetone but the color doesn't, and if i scratch it really hard the remaining nail color just peels, it doesn't melt with the acetone. i'm worrying about it cause i know paint has lead and it might poison me. i have a 6-piece set of the said nail polish and they're newly bought and i don't know what to do with them. i don't want to waste them, however, i don't want to risk my health. please help. thanks in advance!

Answer
Dear Jamie,
I have never heard of polish containing 'paint'.  As for it containing lead, it hasn't contained lead in a great many years.  If you are certain it's pure acetone remover you are using and not the non-acetone variety, then I would throw out the nail polish.  This sounds very odd to me.  I have heard said that there exists polish that is supposed to be 'peeled off', but I dont know the truth of it, nor have I ever used it.
In your case, I would err on the side of caution and discard it. OR contact the company themselves and ask for an explanation.

I hope this helps
Best regards
Victoria
