QuestionHi, I am an esthetician and I am having challenges with removing different types of UV Gel. Many of the clients tell me the techs are removing them by snapping them off piece by piece and I am not enthusiastic about this. I am wondering what I can use to remove them when my own gel solvent isn't working and acetone is not helping either. Specifically I am looking for removal of a system called "Pink Gel".
AnswerDear Jocelyn,
Most 'true' UV Gels may only be removed by buffing/filing them off. Very few may be soaked off. Some NSS (non standard salons) claim to be applying uv gel and may only be using a toxic mma acrylic (the illegal variety) that will not soak off and must be forced off.
No technician who is properly trained, will pry or force of clip off uv gels or acrylic.
This page on my site will tell you more about NSS and MMA and their practices: http://ongles-chez-victoria.tripod.com/victoriasnails/id18.html
"Pink gel" could be anything. There are many brands that have a 'pink' gel in colour.
I regret that without further information, I can't resolve your problem.
For those with true uv gel, they need to see a qualified technician to have the nails gently buffed off. A technician that is experienced and qualified and conscientious will not damage their nails by overfiling.
Best of luck
