Gel Seal Application Issues: Achieving a Glossy Acrylic Finish

Question
hi, is it ok to apply a gel seal to have the permanent glossy look over acrylics? I have done it a few times and it seems like the gel only cticks to parts of the nails. how does this stuff work? there is always a margin around the cuticles that the gel never sticks. I have tried to apply a thin even layer and allow it to level for 15 seconds before i cure it in the lamp for 2 min.. i dont get it....   if you could help me out that would be great. thanks so much

Answer
HI Victoria(:
I find gel needs a rough dry surface to adhere to. The dryer the better. I would recommend if you are using a primer for the acrylic stop. This could be the culprit of the area around the cuticle if not the you could be having some sort of chemical reaction between the two enhancements. Instead of opting for a gel overlay try a uv light cured top coat. It is similiar to gel it cures with a uv light and stays shiny and durable. You should have no probs with it either. Good Luck
