QuestionHello! I do my own gel nails, that is I have overlays of gel on my natural ones. I don't use any false tips for extension as my nails are already naturally long. Before I start the infill of gel nails every 3 weeks, I start on filing and to manicure the nails first. It really takes me long to shorten them by filing the tips down. A nail technician of a friend of mine uses the gel nail clipper to shorten them for clients. I thought that it cracks the gel, and that it is only used on false nails when on thier own before having gel applied on them. Can those be used on gel nails like mine, with no false extensions?
Also, I have nother small question. Can a normal good nail polish be well diffused with clear gel to create self-made coloured gel? This technician uses this technique as well. Or is still ok applying a nail polish on gel, before a UV topcoat?
I appreciate, and thank you for your time.
AnswerRacheal,
I would not use the nail clippers if you aren't
familiar with them not only could you crack the
gel you can crack your natural nail also! If your friend
knows how to use the clippers and is convinced
they work I would have her show you how to use them!
It's always better to just file them down even though it takes
a while!
Good luck!
