QuestionI recently went to a salon and asked for gel nails. I had done a little bit of research before I went in, but clearly not enough. I stated that I wanted gels and specified no acrylics. The manicurist stated that there was gel powder and gel liquid. When she mentioned powder, I told her no, I wanted gel nails not acrylic, so she said that I wanted gel liquid. Whatever this liquid was, it went on like nail polish and she cured it in a UV lamp. Before the end of the day, this hard shell started cracking on some nails. I was planning on going back to the salon to have them fixed, but did some more research that night and found out that gels have a thick "gel" consistency. So now I'm not sure what is on my nails and I want to take it off. I've tried soaking it in pure acetone for about 20 minutes and it still just as hard as it was before soaking it. I filled it down a little bit so it is thinner, but I don't want to completely ruin my natural nail. Is there anything I can do at home to take this off? Thank you!!!
AnswerHi Jo,
Sorry to hear about the nail misunderstanding.
Allot of these on the corner salons don't care what you want they assume you are not educated.
OK ,if the product had a gel top coat and you filed the top then you should try to soak in acetone again you will need to soak for a long time it takes a good hour to get nails off if they are soakable.
You should notice something in 20min or so.
If this doesn't work I would go to your nearest reputable salon and have then filed off safely.
I'm sorry that these are the only two was but if you have the chop shop acrylic it's very hard to get off.
