QuestionHello, Can I wax a client's face that has had a stroke within the past year?
AnswerHello Karen,
The answer depends on how severe the stroke was.
If it was a mild stroke and there's barely anything visible of it, then yes you can. Although I would recommend a low temperature wax and a low pain procedure.
If the stroke was more severe, then I would recommend to be ultra cautious both for your client and for yourself. I would actually recommend you to tell your client to ask directly her doctor's opinion. He/she should be in a better position than you or me to decide as he knows the precise case of this patient. It may sound like an overkill, but the very fact that you ask the question means you have doubts. Listen to your gut feelings and think of protecting yourself. If this client hasn't recovered well and is still "fragile", a slight stress, like a painful waxing can be, may trigger another episode. Once someone had a stroke, the probabilities of having a second one are very high. You don't want it to happen in your spa.
I hope you find this answer helpful.
Have a beautiful day,
Take good care
