Minimal Makeup & Organic Skincare: A Journey to Natural Beauty

Question
Hi,

I saw your profile, and it seems like your holistic approach to life in right in line with some views that I am beginning to cultivate.

A few months ago, I finally had used up all my chemical makeup and switched to all organic. I have a tinted moisturizer that I use as foundation, a few basic eye shadow colors (beige and vanilla), and mascara. So I don't wear a lot of makeup... but I am now wanting to ditch it completely.

Overall, the skin on my face is pretty good. It's very sensitive, and I'm very fair-skinned, so it can get blotchy if irritated, but overall, it's pretty even. However, I have dark circles under my eyes, and my eyes always look red-rimmed. That is really what prevents me from going totally natural, because I feel like I look a little "scraggly" without a bit of eye makeup. I work in a professional setting  (I'm an insurance agent), and because I am young, I want to make sure I am as professional-looking as possible to inspire my clients to trust me.

How can I improve the appearance of my eye area without makeup? I eat well, and am always striving to eat more fruits and veggies. I also drink a lot of tea (luckily, green is my favorite, so all it's health benefits are secondary to taste!).

Any advice?

Thank you,

Cate

Answer
Hello Cate,

Please excuse the delay in my response to your question, as I only got notification of your question yesterday, for some strange reason.

Improving the appearance of your eye area is going to take some work, within and without, but the results, if you have the discipline to set up the protocol I'm going to line up for you, will be great.

First, the redness on your eyes maybe be due to eye strain from working on the computer. You need to take a break from your computer every hour to let your eyes relax and recover from the strain. You will find plenty of very powerful exercises to help your eyes relax in the book of Dr Marc Grossman "Greater Vision". THen, before going to bed, apply 2 cotton pads wetted with Chamomile or Cornflower flower waters:

or ideally, you can alternate between the 2, which would be better.

Second, the reason why you have dark circles under your eyes is very likely to be linked to adrenal exhaustion. It means that you've been under so much stress that your adrenal glands have lost a lot of their energy and need help to recover from the stress you've been going through. This is a Chinese Medicine explanation, and that's the only one I've found to be valid and useful, as it's always true with all the clients I've seen.
To remedy these dark circles, you need to work mostly internally: you need to detox and you need to support your adrenal recovery with adaptogenic herbal compounds like this one:

To learn more about detox, you can read this article:

and read this book:

It will take a few months for these dark circles to totally disappear, but you can help the healing process by doing green clay masks:

I hope you find this answer helpful.
Have a beautiful day,
Take good care
