Haircut Recommendations for Thick, Frizzy Long Hair | Ellie's Dilemma

Question
Hello, I'm Ellie, and I'm very grateful that you are taking your time to answer questions that regard this matter. I apologize for having so many questions, but I'm very lost in this area and need lots of help! Ok, so first lets start with hair. My hair is long and thick. I'm trying to figure out what type of hairstyle to cut it in and I'm having a hard time. All the hairstyles that I like are for straight hair types. While my hair isn't completely curly, its frizzy. It drives me crazy because it has no definition and I'd really like a hairstyle that has a defined shape. Also I was wondering what type of highlights would go with it. Now to the makeup! I really love makeup because its really fun and there's all sorts of things you could do with it! I was wondering how I could define the shape of my face more, and how to make my eyes look bigger. I don't know if it is relevent, but I'll tell you just in case; my eyes are brown to light brown. And my skin tone is very fair. I really appreciate your help, thank you!

Answer
Hello Ellie~

Without seeing a photo of you, its very difficult to answer your questions. I am not a hair stylist, so on that note, I cannot give you the best advice.  I suggest I make an appointment with a hair stylist after getting a few recommendations on good stylists from friends.  The stylist can then make the very best suggestions for you face to face.

The stylist could also answer the highlights question.  Being that I don't know what color your hair is, I have no idea what color of highlights would look best on you.

Not knowing what the current shape of your face is, I can't recommend what you would do to define it.  As for opening up your eyes....a lighter shade of shadow on the lid and a slightly darker one on the brow bone will help to open up your eyes.  So will using an eye lash curler.  If you use eyeliner, don't draw one entire line around your whole eye.  This will make your eyes look smaller.  Don't define your inner eye area with liner.  Leave that area open.  A highlighter under your eyes will also help open and brighten the eye area.

I would also suggest meeting with a make-up artist at a cosmetics counter in a dept store for a free-makover.  When you're face to face with a professional, they can make the best recommendations for your coloring and face shape.

Best wishes, Ellie.
