Retinol and the Eye Area: Safety & Usage Guidelines

Question
Hi Caroline-Morgane,
I wanted to find out if it is safe to apply a retinol serum around eyes.

I use Replenix Retinol Plus Smoothing Serum 5X and the directions on the bottle do not specify whether it is OK. I also checked their website and could not find anything.

This is a product by Topix. Here's a link to their website.

Thank you,
Yuliya

Answer
Hello Yuliya,

Unless you have very very sensitive skin and eyes, it should be totally safe to apply the serum around your eye. If you don't have allergies to perfumes or silicone-type chemicals (the 1st 4 most concentrated ingredients of your serum are cheap silicone-type chemicals which give your serum its texture) you should be fine.
Just to let you know, there is a safer version of trans-retinol serum: it's organic Wild Musk Rose oil:

If you want to play real safe, apply the serum on your neck and inside your elbow and see what happens.

I hope you find this answer helpful.
Have a beautiful day,
Take good care
