2-Year-Old Sleep: Tips & Troubleshooting for Peaceful Nights

With a good training prior to reaching the age of two, children by this time should be sleeping well throughout the night. Of course there are teething and possibly some colds that they pick up at the playground, daycare or school that make sleeping at night very hard.

My experience has been quite good. Rarely have I required to call off work because kid has been sick and with my wife by my side, we have managed our time well. Usually, two year old have a tougher time going to sleep at the correct time if they've had a lot of activities during the day. We've revealed that a proper amount of nap time during the day resolved a lot of the troubles. When they are very tired, they don't cooperate easily and look to get irritated quickly. I am sure us adults can relate to this.

My two year old girl kept grumbling about her head pain, hunger, wanting to watch tv, crying nonstop for an hour etc., in an effort to deflect bedtime. The only problem is that if she goes to sleep late, say around 9:30pm instead of 8:30pm, then she gets up earlier, and is a terrible crab from lack of sleep.

Nevertheless, when we put her in bed at 7pm or a little earlier, she sleeps for longer, sometimes 12 hours straight. I always felt that if I let her sleep late, perhaps that will make her sleep in more therefore I get to sleep in. Intelligibly I miscalculated. But then again, that was something that we learned and had to adapt to.

At least that makes it easier for my another child when she gets to be two years old. We've maintained a routine and that has helped us and kept our kid in a schedule that she has adopted good.
