QuestionHi, I have a silver ring and I need it sized up a few size and I heard that silver clay may work if I cut the ring on the bottom of the band and open the band to the right fit then use the silver clay to bridge the gap, then fire it with a torch.
It is not a very expensive ring and don't want to put out the money for a resize, but my children gave the ring to me and I would like to wear it for them.
I wanted to get a second opinion before I try anything.
Please let me know what you think about this Idea.

My apologies for my slow response as I have been at an all consuming Jewellery Conference since last week....my head is still spinning from information overload.
The simple answer is no.
You could certainly fire the clay but it wont adhere to the rest of the shank.
You should be able to have it simple stretched by forging, or have another piece added to the shank to add to the length.
