Question,,,,dear peter,,,i have a kiln for ceramic..and some silver ...out of what material can i make a mold so that the silver can melt in it.my silver is in sheets...i do have some copper and bronze..sheets i want to melt into the molds i make. i:am i crazy??? please tell me.

My apologies for my slow response as I have been at an all consuming Jewellery Conference since last week....my head is still spinning from information overload.
I'm not sure that your ceramic kiln will be hot enough to melt the silver.
What you probably need is an oxy-acetylene torch with cutting tip set at 80/180. You will need a ceramic crucible and the ,mold can be made from anything that will hold a shape.....foundry sand, carved brick, cuttle fish bone, carved wood, steel chill plates, investment plaster....
It all depends upon what sort of detail you are hoping to achieve, and the ones that I have suggested will work to the degree that will burn or not burn.
