Joining Metals for DIY Jewelry: A Beginner's Guide
QuestionHi, Thanks for taking the time out to answer my question!
This I'm afraid is a very basic question: I am creating junk jewellery, it doesn't need to be super long lasting or anything because I'm selling it for less than a dollar in most cases. I need to know how to join a piece of metal to another piece of metal even if they're different metals. It is for a finger ring, and the ring is adjustable so when the ring is bent to adjust the finger I don't want the decorative piece to fall off. I've tried glue that's used for clockwork (cyanoacrylate) but it doesn't work for extended wear. I'd also love to know what to do if the decorative piece is plastic.
Hoping to hear from you,
M.
AnswerGreetings,
I think I'd try to use to sort of tabs as part of the shank or detail that can be bent around the other piece of metal.
That would be the most efficient and fastest way of fixing the piece to the other.
Alternatively you could consider using rivets of some description.
Cheers and Thanks, P
