18K White Gold Ring Resizing: Can It Be Done?

Hello, I have a ring sized 7 1/2 that I want to resize to     5 1/2.  It is an engagement ring made of 18k white gold with a center stone one prong set princess cut diamond 0.51ct.  then it has a five channel set princess cut diamonds of .40ct.  The channel set covers approx 30% of the top part of the ring.  Can this ring be resized?  I was told it could but there would be gaps between the stones.

I would think so, but it sounds like a difficult job, so it may be somewhat costly. I'm not sure there would be gaps between the stones though. Next time you are at the mall stop by one of the jewelers there and ask. In order to make the determination of size, cost and the integrity of the finished design, they would have to physically see the ring. Good luck!
