25x18mm oval onyx ring
I am planning to buy bezel set genuine stone rings in sterling silver. We are using larger size cabochons in black onyx, carnelian, blue agate, and green agate Will it be possible to resize these rings without removing the stone from the setting?
AnswerEach stone has a different fracture .points from heat... resizing a ring with a stone and is very risky.... the shank of the ring can be held by a moist medium which will help but is not guaranteed a stone will not crack.... try to find a silversmith that is experienced in removing certain stones,,,,,they do not want the resposibility for cracking stones...
