Identifying & Valuing Vintage Ford Cuff Links: A Detailed Guide
QuestionDear Bill & Sally,
I just purchased a pair of old Ford cuff links and I would like to know more about them (history, age, value, etc. There is a profile of 3 heads each layering over the other and off set diagonally. I'm guessing maybe Henry, Edsel, & Henry II. Each cuff link is marked 30 years FORD. The reverse side is marked 1/10 - 10k and what looks like a 7 with a degree dot after it & at the top of the seven. I can send a picture if that would help. I would really appreciate any information you might have. Thanks!
Very Best Regards,
Max
AnswerHello Max and thank you for your inquiry. Your cufflinks sound very interesting. I would guess they may be commemorating 30 year service and the 1/10 - 10K means that they are goldfilled. The 7 could be the design #. Since they were probably consignment made by an unknown manufacturer for Ford, probably the only way to date them would be to check with Ford about previous commemorative and service gifts. Check their online site for customer service/archives. I'm sure they would be of great interest to a cufflink collector of which there are many online. You can find them by using your browser search. If you want to have them appraised, I would suggest using one of the online appraisal sites (again, use your browser for jewelry appraiser). Usually their fee is less than $25.00. If they were gold I would suggest you get a local appraiser since you would need an insurance appraisal. Hope this helps and good luck !
