Best Material for Repairing Whale Bone Jewelry

Hello Bill and Sally,
Please give this question a try:  What is the best material to use to rejoin a piece of jewelry made out of whale bone?  The broken section is under 1/2 inch squared.  Thanks in advance for your time!

Hello Wendy and thank you for your inquiry. Since I've not had to attempt to repair any type of bone jewelry, my answer is pure supposition. Since bone is porous I would think any good super glue such as hypo cement used for watch repair might be good. Another idea is the line of "goop" glues. Wood glue tends to "swell" so I don't think that it would be a good medium. You can buy the hypo glue online and probably at your local craft or jewelry supply store. Hope this helps and good luck !
