Identifying Silver Jewelry Maker Marks: 'Heart' & 'Gnts' Stamps

Question
QUESTION: purchased two silver rings at a local pawn shop looking to see who made them one has an imperfect heart stamped inside "female" the other is a "gnts" ring with a star and cresent moon inside can you help if you need pictures e-mail me and I will send them
         thank you

ANSWER: Hello Cora and thank you for your inquiry. I have not been able to locate either of these marks in my resources. You don't say whether these are sterling or are marked in any other way. It is difficult to trace an iconic hallmark - one with no other information such as initials, etc. What is the style of the rings ? Are they plain silver, sterling, any stones ? There are several online appraisal sites that will work from a good photograp. You might try taking a picture and sending it to one of them - Whatsitworth to you is one such site. They usually charge under $25.00 and have a larger resource to draw from. If I find anything, I will be sure to let you know and good luck.

QUESTION: they are sterling silver rings thaey do not have any other markings such as the 925 stamp those are the only markings inside the rings they are done in a celtic fashion

Answer
Hi Cora - I still haven't had any luck in finding the marks, but I've listed a couple of sites that may be helpful. One is an appraisal site and the other is a hallmark site. It's always easier to research when you have the hallmark in front of you. If I do find out anything else, I will let you know. Good luck !
