Estimating Gold Value with Diamonds: A Guide to Ring Valuation

Hello, I was just trying to figure out the value of a 14k ring I have that also has a 1/4kt diamond set it in.  Is there a way to figure the gold melt value of the ring minus the diamond without popping out the diamond?  Thanks, Jim

Diamonds do not weigh as much as most people think.....it takes 5 Carats of diamond or gem weight to make 1 gram...therefore a .25cts diamond almost has no effect on the weight of the ring which may weigh 6-15 grams depending on the style.....I cant comment on your ring since you did not give me the weight or a picture...
