Identifying & Valuing Your Warranted Railroad-Style Pocket Watch

Question
I have a warrented B & B Royal watch with 15 Jewels.  It has the characteristics of a railroad watch because its open faced and the 12 is at the top of the watch which is what they used. I cleaned it with jewelry cleaner and it came up beautifully and looks like a deep color gold (maybe 18k) but they say that a warrented watch is usually gold plated.  Wouldn't liquid have turned green or possible the watch itself if it wasn't gold?  Porcaline face with very skinny gold time hands. My major question is this:  The watch has manufacture mark on face of the letter H which is enclosed in a script type diamond and also marked same way on inside where the working is.  It has fancy ornate design on back that has a crest type insignia in the middle.  Almost looks like a Waltham watch but can't find any matches on this /H/ mark.  Do you know who this may be and any other details on this watch? Thank you.

Answer
Hello Dolores and thank you for your inquiry. Generally when a watch is labeled Warranted it is gold plate. Depending on how heavy the plating is, if you used acid it may not turn green unless you reach the base metal. Might be better to take it to a jeweler for a definite assay. B&B Royal was active in the 1920's being mentioned briefly in a jeweler's magazine but that is all I could locate on that company. The "H" could be the retailer's special signature but that would be difficult to trace. English registered items have a letter inside an elongated diamond shape but there are usually other letters and numbers also present. One idea might be to check your local library for watch magazine archives for further mention or illustrations of a similar item.
