Understanding the 417 Stamp on Jewelry: Meaning & Significance

I know what 417 means on jewelry. What does ASK 417 mean?

Could be the manufacturers trademark, since USA law states that all Karat jewelery mfg must have the mfg trademark on the ring for Karat quality...in other words a stamp of 417 or 585 10kt or 14kt must be within a certain degree of tolerance relating to the the quantity of gold in the ring...and someone has to be responsible for that
