QuestionHi. You mention in a few places that we should call and 'interview' the possible nail tech to see if they seem to be reputable. Could you recommend a set of questions we should ask - and answers that we should be weary of?
Also, I was once told that if done properly with the correct/proper treatment and product you should never need a new 'full set' of acrylics unless the individual themselves breaks the nail. That if you go in and every two months or so the nail tech says you need a new 'full set' they are not reputable. Could you offer any advice re. this?
Thanks for your advice.
AnswerDear Kate,
You are correct. Most qualified technicians will NOT soak off your acrylics/uv gels and will simply keep refilling them. They are not replaced unless broken. Some qualified and reputable techs however, who's skills aren't honed yet may do occasional soak offs to start fresh as their skills need improvement to achieve the perfectly balanced nail.
Also, unreputable techs will soak them off for no apparent reason.
Frequent soak-offs is not the only way to discern a good from a poor quality technician.
First, please see this page on my site.

That will help you discern quality from poor technicians.
Never let someone tell you that your natural nails need a break or a 'breather'. Nails don't drown when you wash dishes. They don't have lungs. They don't need to breathe. A good technician will simply keep refilling and a 'set' without ever being removed can last years, with refills every 2-3 weeks. If you know what I mean. I have clients upon whom I've never removed a set, they've been seeing me for 2-3yrs and their nails are in perfect health.
Always ask for diplomas, the MSDS and be sure your technician is someone you can communicate with. If you can't communicate, then you can't be sure of the service that you are getting.
Hope this helps
best regards
