Identifying a Rare 1776 Birmingham Silver St. Christopher Pendant
Questionhi i hope you can help me i moved into my house about 3 years ago and found a silver St Christopher i have been doing some research on it but can not find any thing that looks the same . i have however found out from the hallmarks that it was made in Birmingham England, the datermark says in 1776 the makers mark is EMCo and i can find no listing for this maker.it is quite large about 6cm in diameter and has a rough finish on the back so it was possibly attached to somthing.please if you have seen anything like this before or know of the makers mark please could you let me know thank you for your time. vicky
AnswerHello Vicky and thank you for your inquiry. I do not have a manufacturers jewelry resource for England except for the hallmarks. There were hundreds of designs of patron saint medals and probably near as many manufacturers. EM Co was probably the manufacturer but I could not locate anything under that name. I do have a site that may give you some information and there are a lot of religious medal and jewelry sites online for research. Just copy and paste the below url into your browser address field and hit enter:

Hope this helps and sorry I couldn't give you any further information.
