Identifying Antique Engagement Rings: What Do 'BB' Mean?

Question

The two B's
Hi Billy and Sally,
I have already aked Thomas this question and he recommended that I ask you guys.I have what I think is antique art deco engagement ring. When I took it to get cleaned they thought it was odd that it had no makers mark. The undercarriage of the ring has intricate detail with two "B's" incorporated in the design. I am wondering what those could mean? I will attach a photo of the two "b's" on the undercarriage. Thomaas and I were thinking that the two B's were the makers mark. Any idea of who the maker could be and from what time period? Sorry the photo is not better quality it was the best I could get.

Answer
Hello Lauren and thank you for your inquiry.  There are several manufacturers with BB as a mark. One is Binder Bros. Inc. in New York City, also a Bishop an Bishop in Newark, NJ. There are others but they are associated with an icon or design accompanying the mark. Both of these were active during the 1920-1940 era. You might find more by looking for them separately..Binder Bros also used interlocking circles with their logo.  Hope this helps and if I find anything else, I'll let you know.  Enjoy your ring !

Sally
