David Andersen Silver Cup Appraisal: Value & Identification

Question

Eggcup
Hi there,
I wonder if you can help - Doing a clean out of the house we discovered an interesting little silver cup in a presentation box by David Andersen. The cup has a Hare or Rabbit design on the front and indeed also carries the mark DA 830S on the base (its in an etched rectangle)

I've attached an image that might help, we would like to know if it might be worth something?

Answer
Hello Lisa and thank you for your inquiry.  Your cup is adorable and very collectible. David Andersen Norway sterling is always collectible. Especially vintage items in their original packaging. The sterling value would depend on the weight of the cup and silver values fluctuate daily.  But the fact that is is DA Norway and the rabbit theme would make it even more collectible. It would be hard for me to determine any value without knowing the weight, mark, size, etc. but I would advise having it either appraised or do more research online for a similar item.  Try ebay.com auction using the David Andersen name search.  Below is a site featuring the different date marks for DA and also a selection of items produced by him.  Just click on the link or copy and paste the url into your browser address field and hit enter:

Another option would be to have an online appraisal if you can get good closeup photographs.
There are several sites that offer these including "What's It Worth To You" and "WorthPoint".
I've never used either of these but have heard good things about them. They usually charge
under $25.00

Hope this helps and good luck with your beautiful cup !
