Identifying & Appraising a Chinese Jade Cross Necklace

I have had this Jade cross necklace for about 14 yrs or so now.I cant really seem to find any info on it when I received it I was told it was Chinese Jade.??I'm guessing I should find someone that specializes in Jade perhaps.I was wearing it one day at work a few years back and a Jeweler that always came in for lunch noticed it and started asking ?'s he said it was a nice piece and that I should bring it in to get looked at.Well needless to say when i brought it in he wanted to send it away to get appraised..RED FLAG!I never did was scared Something would happen to it. The jade is transparent when held up to light.I cant find any markings of what the gold is Kt Wise it does seem to be a thck gold. I'm thinking probably because it was specially made by the person who did up the design..Its a pieced together Jade cross with 4 diamond Points outlined in gold..Please take a look at the pictures hope you can help.. AnswerThank you for your inquiry. Your have a lovely cross necklace. If you believe it is gold, you need to have it professionally checked for gold content. This is something only a professional can do as it involves acid. Check with your local museum or antique mall for a referral to someone who does appraisals on estate jewelry in your area. They would also be able to determine that type of jade used as well as the diamond pts. Unless it is signed by the maker or manufacturer it will be difficult to find out much about the origin. Make sure when you leave it to be appraised you get a description receipt and keep a photo of the back and front. Most registered appraisers are honest and dependable but you want to make sure you are protected.
