Planning a Family Bridal Shower: A Comprehensive Guide

Question
So I am the maid of honor and I need to plan a shower for the people in my family??  Who do I invite, where do we go, what do we do?

Answer
Hi Linsey:

Where you told to plan a family shower or do you feel you need to plan one just for family?  Usually the bridal shower is thrown with friends and family invited unless there is a reason to have two separate ones.

That being said, you would invite all the female attendants and any other friends and family members that are invited to the wedding unless it is going to be strictly family. If this is the case then you would invite all female family members that are invited to the wedding and attendants if you are so inclined.  As for where to have it, that is entirely up to you.  If you have a home that will accommodate everyone, then you could have it there.  If that is not an option, a restaurant with a banquet room would be another good choice.  Wedding shower games are usually played at these affairs and you can find a plethora of them online.  Here are a couple of websites to get you started:

Invitations can be store bought our handmade.  We do handmade invitations for our clients so if that is the route you would like to take but you do not have the time you can contact us for pricing.

Be sure to have prizes for the winners of the shower games as well as favors for each guest.  They don't need to be big, just a little something to say "Thank you!"

I hope this helps.  Should you have any further questions, please feel free to contact me again.

Happy planning,
