Health Checkup Recommendations for Elderly Alcoholic - India

Hi,
My name is sandhya.This is about my father in law who is 63 years old. He is alcoholic. We live in India. He does not want to go for any check up. he is addicted and he is often falling ill these days. We are feared that one day he would become suddenly very ill and nobody can help him. I want to know what sort of health check up he should go for. I'll give you all the health problems he has been having.
1. Drinks 4 times a day.
2. He was already admitted once for liver problem.
3. He coughs very badly.
4. He faints very often.
5. He is not diabetic.
He does not care for anybody.He is not even bothered of his own health. he is his own counseller. We could only get him help after he falls very ill. We want to make him live for some more years

In this situation in the US.... we do an "intervention" which means get a counselor, and family members meet ahead of time... all have to agree that treatment for the alcoholism is needed and the counselor sets up a meeting where all family supports going in to treatment and make sure that all the excuses are covered...... it is tough to get someone help when they don't think they need it but seek professional advice for this.
