Wedding Etiquette: Guest Lodging Costs - Who Pays?

is the brides family obligated to pay for the bed and breakfast lodging fees for the grooms family and bridal party for weekend wedding fri and sat nites for a sat evening wedding. grooms family out of state. brides family is picking up all costs including fri nite dinner

In my past experience and opinion the answer is no, especially if the groom's family is not paying for the "rehearsal" dinner. Even in my personal experience with family members having weddings outside of the area here, we never had or even asked to have our accommodations taken care of by the bride.

As for the etiquette, there is no strong fast rule for the travel part of any family member on either side coming to the wedding, however there is one rule.  The groom's parents pay for the Friday night dinner.  Never been to a wedding where this did not happen or organized a wedding that did not have this in place.
