QuestionI am a 25 year old mother of two and I've had problems with cellulite on my butt and back of thigh since I was a teenager. I'm a very petite person (height 5 ft, weight 100 lbs) yet I still have this problem. I even had it when I was 90 lbs in my late teens. All the advice I read says to reduce your fat intake and exercise more. If I do that I may weigh nothing! I don't want to lose weight I just want to get rid of this stubborn cellulite! I run 3 miles twice a week as well as stay active with a 2 and 4 year old. What else can I do?
AnswerHi Abbey,
Cellulite is frustrating. What cellulite is is plain old fat wrapped up in a different package. It's interlaced with a connective tissue called collagen, which is what gives it that cottage cheese, dimply appearance. Unfortunately, cellulite is heredity in around 85 of women. Even thin women can have cellulite. Some medical experts believe having cellulite may be because of our hormones.
I understand what you mean about not wanting to look thinner. Unfortunately, the way to get rid of cellulite is by losing fat. Have you ever considered trying to build up a bit of muscle? It would be nearly impossible for you, as a small framed woman, to build up enough muscle to actually look "muscular." However, building up just a bit of a muscle base would give you an athletic look and help you to not look too thin. It would be easier then for you to lose fat/cellulite without looking too thin.
I hope that is helpful and please let me know if I can answer any more questions for you.
