PCOS and Fertility: Understanding the Connection for Teens

Question
I'm 14 and my gynecologist says I maybe insulin resistant and there's a high possibility that I have PCOS. I was wondering if it is possible that I may have fertility issues later on in my adult life.

Answer
PCOS is associated to IR. It is also associated with infertility second degree ovulation problems. If you do have PCOS, you may need some assistance later in life when you decide to have a baby. IR also has long term health risks and other diagnoses should be ruled out. You should discuss this with your MD.
