Understanding Early Pregnancy Concerns: Yolk Sac & Fetal Heartbeat

Question
what is going on when you have a soyno. and the doctor can here a heart beat at 167 beats per min but he could not see a baby but he found a yolk sack but still no baby can it be that maybe they are 2 sack  could it be a tubal what do you think have you ever heard of this before please let me no  she should be about 5 to 10 weeks the doctor dont no for sure or even what happing thanks for you help Sherry

Answer
You have to give me more information. When was the first day of her last menstrual period. If she is less than 6 weeks from the first day of her last period, a sonogram will only show a yolk sac but no fetus and no fetal heartbeat. If she is greater than 6 weeks, we may see a fetal pole and a heartbeat. At 10 weeks, we definitely see a fetus and a heartbeat. If we hear a heartbeat, there has to be a fetus seen. If there is nothing in the uterus and the blood test for pregnancy is elevated, we have to rule out the possibility of a tubal pregnancy. This, sometimes, requires surgery. You should try to obtain a copy of the sonogram report. Then you will know what is going on.
