Spotting Between Periods: Causes, Concerns & When to See a Doctor
QuestionI am 25 years old, no children, date of the first day of my last period was Tuesday March 30th. I am have been on the pill for the last 7 years, therefore I am typically very regular, however for the last few days I have been spotting (to the point where I need to where a tampon). I am not "due" to have my regular period until April 26th. What could be going on & should I be concerned enough to see my doctor?
AnswerYou may have some slight hormonal imbalance this month and, therefore, have some spotting due to a drop in the amount of estrogen. See if you get your period on time and see if this occurs next month. (Keep a careful record of all your bleeding) If it occurs again, you may have to change your pills to another preparation. In any case, you will need to see your gynecologist. Did you miss any pills or, perhaps, take a pill late in the day? That sometimes will cause you to spot.
