Question

Answer
You doctor, of course, is worried about the possibility of developing Preecclampsia or HEELP Syndrome (High Blood Pressure, edema, protein in your urine, elevated uric acid, elevated liver function studies, decreased platelets). Your blood pressure appears to be fine and you claim that your BBP is 8/8. How was your Non Stress test? Did you have a uric acid checked, as well as LFTs and Platelets? What was your amniotic fluid index? If these were all normal, and the proteinuria is the only abnormal value, I doubt that you have to be induced early or that, if you are not induced early, you will have high risk of stillbirth. HOwever, I do not know the specifics of your situation. I would sit down with your obstetrician and ask what is pushing him to promote early induction, other than your protein. Good luck to you. (By the way, at 38 weeks, the baby is mature enough for delivery and, if you do not deliver vaginally, a cesarean section is no all that bad.
