Understanding Early Pregnancy & Post-Miscarriage Concerns
QuestionMy husband and I are trying to start a family for the first time. Our first try I got pregnant but had a miscarriage during early April after only three weeks. I proceded to immediately get preganant again, by accident this time within a week and a half after the miscarriage. An over the counter test showed positive results for this pregnancy a week ago. I started having a pink discharge a few days later, and after five days started to have a darker colored discharge, which has slowly become bright blood, and is now flowing almost as much as I would get for a regular period, though no cramps at all. I assumed that it was another miscarriage, but the symptoms have been different this time, I still feel some pregnancy symptoms, and no other discomfort like before. If still pregnant, I would only be starting my third week. I took a pregnancy test today and it still came out positive, though I have only been bleeding bright blood for two to three days.
AnswerHello Dawn. Well, only time will give you the answers you want. This could go either way and there is NOTHING you can or should do to influence things either way. Meantime, be sure you are taking a folic acid supplement of 1-2mg a day, NO smoking, NO alcohol. If this pregnancy fails, please give your body a chance to rebalance- use condoms until you have had at least 2 normal periods. Hope that helps- Cheri.
