QuestionI have had very tiny lip bumps and lip blotchiness that come and go daily or weekly sometimes disappearing for weeks sometimes showing up more frequesntly. This has been going on since Nov. 03.
I do have cold sores, but these are different simply b/c they are very small, come and go sometimes within hours or at least days. They are not fluid filled or anything else like that such as any cold sore sufferer knows the symptoms. I have gone to an ear nose and throat doctor who said they are not cold sores (which I knew) just some irritation - not contagious - just annoying and if in the future they continue to irritate me I could get a biopsy done.
It is frustrating b/c not that many can see them unless pointed out, but I know they are there. And I worry there must be something going on if they have been with me off and on for 8 months.
I started keeping track of when they come and go and most of the time I find them most prevelant around my period - right before, during or right after and at times when I could be ovulating.
I was wondering is there any type of hormone issue that could be going on that could be causing this lip irritation? Or anything else you could think of...
Thanks for your help!
AnswerYour best bet is to consult with a dermatologist. Then you will know what these bumps are and can ask what should be done about them. I do not know what they are or whether tney are caused by an excess of estrogen or progesterone (the hormones involved in the menstrual cycle). This is out of my area of expertise. Sorry.
