I am only 15,my first pregnancy.The date of the first day of my last normal period was March 3rd 2004. The doctor says I have a short cervics and he will not explain?

During the pregnancy, your cervix should be approximately 3to4cm in length. If it gets shorter (by checking a sonogram or doing a digital exam) it may be due to an early effacement of the cervix. This can lead to preterm labor. However, as long as it is at least 3cm, you need not worry.If it is less than 3cm, you should avoid heavy lifting or intercourse so as not to cause it to shorten more.
