Blood in Baby's Stool: Causes & When to Seek Medical Advice

My son is 1mth old. He has some blood in his poop. I want to take him to an emergency room but my wife wants to wait for our doctor tomorrow. Should we wait and what cause blood to be in a newborns poop?

Hello Kenneth. This is quite common and nothing to be overly concerned about. Your son's digestive system is still quite immature and even when the best food in the world- breastmilk - is the only thing given, some blood in the stool still happens. Hope that helps- Cheri.
