Questioni had sex with my boyfriend and i'm on the pill. but that day i didant take my pill cause i forgot can i be pranagnty? an i dont take my pill at the same time every day.
AnswerDear Shear Bear,
The effectiveness of the BCP is definitely increased when you take the pill around the same time everyday. Often if you can associate taking the pill with another activity (like brushing teeth, first cup of coffee, etc,..) you will have better luck with it. However, if you took the BCP every day in your cycle and then took the missed pill as soon as remembered or the following day, you should be fine and pregnancy should have been prevented.
If you do not get your period when expected, if it is shorter in duration, or if the quality of it is different in volume or consistency, then you should wait until the week after the period week and test for pregnancy. Although some tests claim accuracy on the first day of a missed period, I usually suggest that women wait until the week after a missed or spotty period before testing for pregnancy. This tends to minimize the incidence of false negative results and also avoids wasting money on a test for a simple delay of a period by a few days. When/if you test make sure to use 1st morning urine to get a concentrated sample for the most accurate results.
I do apologize for the delay in answering. I suffer from migraines and have had a three day-er since returning from a mini-vacation. I hope this has helped you and answered your question. I wish you well.
