QuestionI am 28, I have 2 children,8 &10 yrs. 1st day of last menstrual was 9/4/04. I started experiencing severe soar breasts a few days after ovulation. Then 1 day later I began to get a back ache and lower abdominal cramps. (This was atleast 2 weeks prior to me starting my menstrual period.)a few days after that I was feeling great and all of sudden I became nauseated and got a slight headache. It went away 1hr later, came back that night. The first 3 symptoms have not subsided at all. Now I feel nauseated every night about 10pm. Today I experienced some spotting light brown/pinkish color.I have done lots of research on the internet and these are all signs of pregnancy. However I have taken 3 home tests and all are negative. I called my OB/gyn and he moved to Texas. I don't have a new one yet. Your insight would be appreciated.
AnswerIf you normally have a 28 day cycle (from the first day of your period until the first day of your next period) ovulation occurs on cycle day #14. You can only become pregnant if you have unprotected sex on cycle day #13, 14, 15, or 16. If your last period, as you said, started on September 4, you would have ovulated around September 17 and could have conceived on September 16,17,18, or 19. If you did, indeed, conceive on one of those days, a pregnancy test would not show a positive result until 14-21 days later, or between October 1-7. The best time to take a pregnancy test is seven days after you miss your next period. If you get your period, you are not pregnant, no matter how many pregnancy symptoms you have. The earliest symptoms of pregnancy are breast tenderness, fatigue, or nausea. I would suggest getting another pregnancy test on October 7, and if it is negative and you still are having symptoms, get a blood test for pregnancy. IF that is also negative, you are not pregnant.
