Early Pregnancy Symptoms & HCG Levels: A Personal Story

Question
Hello,
I have been trying to conceive for 2 years now.  I am 34 years old and I have two children (18 & 16 years old) from a previouse marriage.  My husband is 43 and has no children.  About 8 months ago I had a chemical pregnancy.  This month, on my third cycle of clomid w/ trigger shot and prometrium 2xs a day, I have been successful.  My HCG level at 15 DPO was 76 and at 17 DPO it was 164.  Since it has been such a long, trying experience I find myself quite paranoid.  Here is my question.  Do early pregnancy symptoms fluctuate day -to - day?  For example on 15, 16, 17 DPO, I was feeling nauseous all day and had to force myselft to eat.  At  18 and 19 DPO, I do not feel sick at all and feel quite hungry.  Even my tender breasts are more tender one day than the next.  Is it normal for symptoms to come and go like this?  Today, aside from tender breasts, I don't have any pregnancy symptoms at all.

Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions.
I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Maggie

Answer
Pregnancy symptoms can certainly fluctuate from day to day. Some days, your breast can be tender and some days they will not be tender. Nausea can range from occasional nausea to severe nausea and vomiting. If you have any doubts, continue taking the HCG test. There should be a doubling of the results in 48 hours. If the HCG values have been rising and you have not had any bleeding, there is no reason to worry. I would also get a sonogram after you reach 7 weeks from the first day of your last period. Good Luck.
