Abnormal Bleeding & Fertility After Depo Provera: A Pregnancy Timeline

Question
I am 22, I have no kids. And my last menstrual period was about a week ago. I have abnormal Uterine bleeding cause of a lack of progesterone. I am on two shots of depo provera, one for birth control, and one to get a normal amount of progesterone. And once my shots wear off soon. Around hte beginning of Jan, my husband and I want to try for kids, and I am wondering since I don't have normal periods how long after I have sex, should I do a pregnancy test to find out if I am pregnant?

Answer
You cannot become pregnant while you are on the DepoProvera. Once you get a normal period, try concentrating intercourse around cycle day #14 and after. Then take a pregnancy test 21 days after the suspected date of conception. Once you become pregnant, you should not take any progesterone after the 12th weeks of gestation.
