Understanding Irregular Periods & Potential Pregnancy Signs

Question
I just turned 17 this month.  I've been having my period for about 6 years now.  My periods are pretty much always the same way.  They last 3-4 days being moderatly heavy and then slow down to hardly anything by the 5th day.  By the 6th day they are usually gone.  This month my period was on time but lasted only 3 days and had very little blood. My boyfriend insists that I'm not pregnant and not to worry because it came. I'm always terrified that I will become pregnant even when my periods are normal. I'm not on the pill but we do use condoms.  Do you think I might be pregnant?

Answer
Condoms are only 98% effective and can sometimes let you down.  Actually, women can have their periods throughout their pregnancy.  This is why many women don't know they are pregnant until the 2nd or 3rd month into it.  It seems to me you most likely aren't pregnant and your period may have just been weird because of stress or possibly dietary change or something.  Wait a couple weeks and take a test.  A secondary form of birth control is always suggested so think about getting the pill, patch or something simple like that as well as the condoms.
