Blood in Urine During Pregnancy: UTI & GBS Concerns - Expert Advice

i am 26 yrs of age ..im now 33 weeks pregnant with mu first baby ,..2 weeks back my urine test showed blood in the urine ..my OB diagnosed UTI beacuse of GBS ..i was given a 10 day coarse of augmenten followed by one augmented every night until the day of my delivry plus i will be administered with antibiotic during labor as well ..is giving so much antibiotic in my cause a common practice ...and in this way will me and my baby be safe from illness caused by GBS...ur advise will help me a grat deal ..thanks

If you have a positive culture for GBS, then you should be treated with antibiotics WHEN YOU GO INTO LABOR. However, if a culture of your urine is positive for GBS during pregnancy, then you should be treated prior to labor. By taking antibiotics, you are protecting your newborn from development of sepsis from GBS. I suggest that you follow the instructions of your doctor.
