Questioni have been having a menstrual period for a month now. what is going on?
AnswerHi Cheryl ..
Well, I dont know much about you, so its a little hard to answer. But I will give it my best shot.
This can be common in teenagers, and its usually due to hormonal imbalances.
But, it also can happen, just as a woman approaches menopause as well.
Kind of a tough call here, because I have no idea what age bracket you are in.
Also, other causes of excessive bleeding is ..fibroid tumours, cervical or endometrial polyps, lupus, pelvic inflammatory disease, cervical cancer and endomedrial cancer.
Also, IUD's will often cause excessive bleeding as well when relied on as a method of birthcontrol.
Miscarriage, can also cause excessive bleeding, and at time long periods of bleeding as well.
And lastly, an extremely low blood platelet count could contribute to the problem as well. But usually, when excessive bleeding is caused from a blood platelet issue, or disorder, its associated as well with nose bleeds, and easy bruising ..
So, as you see there are a multitude of reasons why something like this would happen. The only way to find out is to visit your GYN, and have the appropriate tests done to find a concrete answer as to why this is happening.
Hope this is of some help.
