the dr told me that my babies neck was wrapped around the impillacal cord and that his heart rate was low.  what can i do about that and will my son make it.

Very commonly we see the umbilical cord wrapped around the neck of the baby (or the arm or the leg). This is usually loosly wrapped around the structure and will not cause any harm. However, when it is tightly wrapped around something, it can cause a kinking of the cord that will slow the baby's heartbeat and cause a lack of oxygen to the baby. A change of position may help but sometimes only delivery can avoid further problems. Remember, it is the occlusion of the umbilical cord that is the problem, not occlusion of the baby's neck.
