Question -
Hello, I REALLY hope you can help me as this has haunted me for years. First off, I am 30 years old and have 2 children. I am unsure of my LMP since this occured in 1998. I know it was sometime in early to mid January. Plus I was in the process of getting the Depo shot out of my system since I spotted majorly from it. My last shot was in November 1997. I was still spotting at this time.

I was seeing this guy for the entire month of January 1998 until a couple of days after V-Day of 1998. We had unprotected sex a couple of times. I slept with someone else about a week after V-Day and he purposely tried to get me pregnant.  My due date and date of birth was 11/2/98. I naturally thought the second man was the father since he purposely did what he did.

But now that my child is older, he looks a lot like the first man. The second father is italian like, dark hair, brown eyes, darker skin. I am as white as you can be, light brown hair, hazel green eyes, first father, light brown hair, hazel brown eyes and light skinned as well. My son has light brown hair, hazel blue-green eyes, light skinned. My second son to the second father looks just like him, dark features.

My question is, what is the probable date of conception and what is the possibilty that I was already pregnant before V-Day? Could I have been pregnant by the time I slept with second probable father?

Thank you so much and I hope that you can answer some, if not all of my questions. This will help me a great deal. Like I said, it has haunted me for nearly 7 years.

If you delivered on November 2, 1996, your last period started on January 26 and you conceived ob February 9.

Answer
As I said, it appears that you conceived on February 9. You can certainly have DNA testing to determine paternity. This can be done now by taking a swab of the inside cheek of each man as well as of yourself. However, you will have to get some fluid from the amniotic sac of the baby (via amniocentesis) to check the baby. The test costs around $1500 and you can get the results in a week.  Otherwise, you will have to wait until the baby is born to test for paternity.
