QuestionHello. I am 24, no children, and my last period began on June 7th. I have never been sexually active in any fashion (no penetration by any object, no oral sex, etc)
I have experienced this condition for about 4 to 5 years now. During my period, I experience what feels like a lot of gas bubbles moving around in my abdomen, towards my lower back. As these bubbles move, it is painful. Its like they are looking for my anal outlet. There are two ways I relieve the pain: (1) moving around on my bed or carpet, so that the bubbles can "move" to a less painful location (2) squatting to try and pass the gas. when I can pass the gas, there is relief until more gas builds up again.
I take Pamprin, which seems to either reduce the gas buildup or at least make me not feel it. This is the only OTC I have used to treat the condition. This happens each period. I have been reading abount endometriosis, and the facts scare me. could that me what is ailing me? I appreciate your help.
AnswerYou apparently have a sequestration of gas in your intestines. I would suggest buying some Mylicon, or Mylanta-Gas (simethicone) which will mobilize the gas in your intestines and you will evacuate the gas either by flatus or burping. This is a common complaint during the menstrual period, but can occur at any time during the cycle.
